Pop sensation Katy Perry will rock Vienna next month, it has been announced.
Online music and events platform Britishrock.cc reports today (Thurs) that the 25-year-old singer from Santa Barbara, California, USA, is set to hit the stage at Vienna’s Arena concert hall on 6 October.
Perry rose to fame with “I Kissed a Girl” in 2008. The song topped the charts in several countries in the world before she managed to repeated the triumph with follow-up single “Hot n Cold”. Both songs reached number one on the Austrian Singles Chart.
Her third album “Teenage Dream” was released earlier this month. • Read full story…

Even while she dominates radio with her Snoop Dog collaboration, “California Gurls,” Katy Perry releases the follow-up single “Teenage Dream” from her 2nd CD, which is set to add to her back-to-back-back No. 1 chart-toppers “I Kissed A Girl”, “Hot N Cold”, and “Waking Up In Vegas” all from her debut CD, “One of the Boys.”
Perry claims that “Teenage Dream” takes up where its predecessor left off.
“I think that it’s not completely unexpected. I really don’t think people want me to be anything that I am not. I think that people that are listening to my music and that are actual fans to this whole body of music, they see that I really try to come from an honest place, telling stories, a lot of stories coming from my life and I think that when I stop being honest people will know and will see through it,” she says. • Read full story…

Lots of craziness went down onstage at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Rappers like Lil Mama and Kanye West couldn’t resist bum-rushing the stage, Janet Jackson and Madonna contributed to an icon-heavy tribute to the late, great Michael Jackson, and when Lady Gaga wasn’t dashing in and out of elaborate getups, she was writhing onstage drizzled with blood.
Unbeknownst to viewers, the backstage madness rivaled the antics that made the big show. Indeed, so much ridiculousness went down that MTV had to dish in “The VMAs: Revealed – Presented by New 5 React Gum,” an insider’s look at the festivities that premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. The show also turned out to be the backdrop for one of pop culture’s most high-profile pairings: Katy Perry and Russell Brand. Katy Perry does double duty at No. 1 this week on both the Billboard 200 albums chart and the Digital Songs tally thanks to the arrival of her “Teenage Dream” album.
Her second Capitol effort starts atop the Billboard 200 with 192,000 according to Nielsen SoundScan — marking her best sales week and a new chart high. She’s the first solo woman to reign at No. 1 since January, when Ke$ha’s “Animal” spent one week atop the list.
Over on the Digital Songs chart, “Teenage Dream’s” title track moves up one spot to spend its first frame at No. 1 with 259,000 (up 24%).
Perry’s last album, 2008′s “One of the Boys,” debuted and peaked at No. 9 in July of that year with 47,000 sold in its premiere week. Its best sales frame came over Christmas week of 2008 when it shifted 63,000 — but at a lower rung on the tally. • Read full story…
