Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry and Shakira make their moves on the Hot 100 this week, while the Black Eyed Peas and Jason Mraz set new milestones.
Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me” at No. 3 nets a new peak on the Hot 100 for Swift, who made it to No. 4 with “Love Story” in January. Katy Perry gets back into the top 10 with “Waking Up in Vegas,” which makes its third trip into the top 10. Demi Lovato’s “Here We Go Again” rockets 66-24 with 88,000 downloads the week before the release of her sophomore album, expected to debut at or near the top of the Billboard 200.Shakira’s “She Wolf” debuts at No. 34 on the Hot 100, in her highest-ever debut. The song moved 48,000 digital downloads last week and lunges 17-6 on Hot Latin Songs, where it is known as “Loba.” Her move on the latter list gives the diva 14 top 10s, tying her for fifth among female acts with Selena. “She Wolf” also nudges into the Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart at No. 40.
Two other acts, Jason Mraz and OneRepublic, score gains on the Hot 100 this week with new versions of older songs. Mraz’ “I’m Yours” rises 32-29 with a new reggae-tinged mix that’s getting renewed airplay and is included in a digital bundle. With 66 weeks on the chart, it’s had the second-longest stay after LeAnn Rimes’ “How Do I Live.”
OneRepublic’s “Come Home,” originally from the band’s 2007 album “Dreaming Out Loud,” debuts at No. 80 courtesy of new featured vocals by Sara Bareilles. Back in the top 10, the Black Eyed Peas hold on to No. 1 with “I Gotta Feeling,” becoming the third act in Hot 100 history to spend 16 straight weeks at No. 1. The Peas are followed once again this week by Drake at No. 2 with “Best I Ever Had,” while Keri Hilson stays at No. 4 with “Knock You Down” featuring Kanye West and Ne-Yo. Sean Kingston’s “Fire Burning” remains at No. 5, the Peas’ “Boom Boom Pow” drops 3-6, Lady GaGa’s “Lovegame” stays at No. 7 and Pitbull’s “I Know You Wante Me (Calle Ocho)” holds at No. 8. Jeremih’s “Birthday Sex” also remains at No. 9 this week.
Elsewhere on the charts, the Pet Shop Boys set the record for the most No. 1s in the history of the Hot Dance Club Songs chart among duos or groups this week as “Love Etc.” becomes the ninth Pet Shop Boys song to hit the top slot. “Love Etc.” is the first single from Pet Shop Boys’ tenth studio album, “Yes.”
