Katy Perry has announced details of her new single ‘California Gurls’.
The song, which the singer recently described as a response to Jay-Z’s ‘Empire State Of Mind’, features rapper Snoop Dogg.
The track is produced by Max Martin and Dr. Luke, who have previously worked with Kelly Clarkson, Pink and Britney Spears. The latter also produced Perry’s ‘I Kissed A Girl’ and ‘Hot N Cold’ singles.
USA Today describes the song from the as-yet-untitled album as “an effervescent toast to summer fun”.Perry also revealed via Twitter that she has recorded the single’s music video and shot its artwork.
She wrote: “Shooting the cover for the single off the new record today. There couldn’t be more colour.” She later added: “She worse an itty bitty polka dot… A girl loves her nails!”
‘California Gurls’ is expected to hit US radio stations on May 25.
