Eminem has gained his sixth number one in the UK album charts with the release of Recovery, which has gone straight to the top spot.
Oasis, who held the top spot last week with their greatest hits compilation Time Flies, have been pushed down to number two. Black Eyed Peas have jumped an enormous 37 places to occupy number three. UK rapper Example entered the charts at number four with his new album, Won’t Go Quietly, and Lady GaGa’s The Fame finds itself at number five for its 76th week in the album charts.
New entries into the album chart top 20 include Miley Cyrus, who entered at 8 with Can’t Be Tamed, Ozzy Osbourne’s Scream at 12 and Kele from Bloc Party’s first solo album The Boxer at number 20. Rising talent Lissie saw her debut album come in at 22. A new Michael Jackson collection, Number Ones, took 31, while UK rap artist Giggs enters the chart at 35 with Let Em Ave It. The UK singles chart has a new number one with Katy Perry’s California Gurls, featuring Snoop Dogg, entering the chart in the top spot.
K’Naan remains at number two with Wavin’ Flag, while Dizzee Rascal & James Cordon’s unofficial World Cup anthem, Shout, drops to number three. Example slips one place to number four with Kickstarts and Eminem’s Not Afraid climbs one place to number five.
New entries to the singles chart come from Scissor Sisters, who sit just outside the top ten with Fire With Fire, which comes in at 11. Diddy – Dirty Money enter at 22 with Hello Good Morning, and Big Boi sees Shutterbug debut at 31. B.o.B see their single Airplanes, featuring Hayley Williams, climb thirteen places to number 12.
