We gave Katy Perry’s sophomore album Teenage Dream a listen (happy hunting for the leak, unless you can hold out til Tuesday when it’s officially released), and although we’re loving it, we’re still a bit scared Katy is one tube of glitter away from morphing into Ke$ha on a few of the tracks. Jump below to listen to the anthem of your next house party, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”, a song that would have fit snug-as-a-drunk-bug on Animal.

We already know “California Gurls” and “TiK ToK”—both produced by hitmaker Dr. Luke—sound very, very similar. But Perry’s trashy-and-loving-it ode to getting wasted “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” hits a little too close to Ke$ha’s let’s-get-wasted territory.

“There’s s stranger in my bed, there’s a pounding my head / Glitter all over the room, pink flamingos in the pool,” sings Katy, sounding pretty level-headed for somebody with a hangover. “I smell like minibar, DJ’s passed out in the yard / Barbies on the barbeque, is this a hickey or a bruise?”She goes on to reference a menage-au-trois, compromising photos circulating online, dancing on tabletops, shots, getting thrown out of bars, streaking, skinny-dipping, breaking the law—and adoring every minute of it. That’s a lot of sinful activity for a girl with a Jesus tattoo on her wrist. Heck, that’s even more than Perry did running amok in Sin City as detailed in “Waking Up In Vegas”! Makes us wonder if this tune, produced by Dr. Luke and Max Martin, was first written for the Tiger-masked Jack Daniels connoisseur.

As for the other tracks on Teenage Dream, we’re not surprised to report back that the record is filled to the brim with potential singles (”Not Like The Movies” is the ballad of her career so far) and enough cheeky lyrics to infiltrate pop culture straight into 2011 (”Peacock” is the sort of naughty-fun song Christina wishes she had on Bionic).

The lustful “Hummingbird Heartbeat” and the ex-trashing “Circle The Drain” could be tracks right off of a Best Of The 80s compilation album, and although the ethereal ballad “Pearl” and synth-assisted “E.T.” fall flat for us and are a bit too generic for a fun-loving, tongue-in-cheek pop gal like Perry, there’s not one track on Teenage Dream we would call a misstep. (Mostly because “Milk Milk Lemonade” was thankfully left off.)

Teenage Dream drops this Tuesday in the U.S. and August 30 everywhere else. We recommend it!
