Those who will deliver live performances on the stage of this year’s MTV Video Music Awardshave been revealed. Katy Perry, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Usher, Pink and 30 Seconds to Mars are lined up for the celebration, The Marquee Blog of CNN reported.
All of the newly-announced musical guests score multiple nominations at the September 12 event. Perry is vying for Best Female Video and Best Pop Video, 30 Seconds to Mars receive four nods including a bid in Best Direction, and Pink gets two nominations in Best Direction and Best Editing.
Usher, meanwhile, is up for Best Male Video, Best Dance Music Videoand Best Choreography. Jay-Z and Keys’ duet in “Empire State of Mind” appears in three categories; Best Collaboration, Best Cinematography and Best Direction. In addition, Jay-Z is competing for another prize for Best Hip-Hop Video. Topping all of their multiple nods is Lady GaGa who sweeps 13 nominations. Following her domination is Eminem with eight nods and another bid he shares with Drake, Lil Wayne and Kanye West for “Forever”. One thing for sure, both of them are battling against each other for Video of the Year with Florence and the Machine, B.o.B and 30 Seconds to Mars as the other competitors.
The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night at 9 P.M. ET/PT. Host, presenters and maybe additional performers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Fans can vote for the winners at vma.mtv.com.
