Review: Katy Perry, Plaza Ballroom, Melbourne on 08/12

Exploding out of a cake in a skin tight silver dress, Katy Perry announced her return to Australia with a glittery, girly, over-the-top BANG!

Arguably the hottest pop star in the world was in Melbourne thanks to Debit Mastercard, and to promote her highly anticipated sophomore album ‘Teenage Dream’.

With a plethora of pop stars out there who can ‘just’ sing, it was great to see Katy up on the stage nailing every note, whilst jumping around and interacting with the super excited crowd.She kicked off the set with ‘Hot N Cold’, and followed up with ‘One Of The Boys’, where she also proved her skills behind the guitar.

We got a sneak peak of what will most likely be her third single from the ‘Teenage Dreams’ album called ‘Peacock’, which has a seriously catchy hip hop flavor and will no doubt race up the commercial charts.

And in news that will delight all Katy Perry fans, she also announced a return to Australia in 2011, which will no doubt see her packing out arenas all over the country.

By far the biggest track of the night was the first single off ‘Teenage Dream’, the ridiculously catchy ‘California Gurls’…and despite a lack of Snoop Dogg, the crowd was showered with confetti and naturally went pretty freakin’ mental!

Katy Perry is a class act, she’s a pop star at the top of her game, and thehothits.com can’t WAIT for her to come back out in 2011!
