RUSSELL BRAND has urged KATY PERRY to come clean about her gender now gay marriage has been legalised in California.

The couple are gearing up for their nuptials, and Russ has quipped that the coast is now clear for them to wed as husband and husband.

It comes after a decision to invalidate the state’s Proposition 8 legislation – banning same sex unions – was issued yesterday, much to the Brit funnyman’s relief.

He wrote on Twitter: “Prop8 dropped! Now you can lose the wig, lipstick and frocks and we can wed as a pair of Cali-hunks.”

And “hunk” isn’t an entirely inaccurate description of Russ’s present physique, as this snap attests.Meanwhile, other stars including LADY GAGA and SLASH have taken to Twitter to applaud the government’s move.

The Poker Face star was so inspired by the news, she immediately got to work on some songs.

She wrote: “At the moments notice of PROP 8 DEATH I instantly began to write music. BUBBLE DREAMS FOREVER! FULL EQUALITY! THIS IS JUST THE BEGININNG!

“REJOICE and CELEBRATE gay communities and straight all over the world. Our voices are being heard! Loud! SCREAM LOUD AMERICANOS!”
