Katy Perry, The Voice of Smurfette
Katy Perry is the voice of Smurfette in the 3D movie ‘The Smurfs’ to be released in just a few weeks on July 29, 2011. Perry lovers will get to hear the pop star’s voice as never before.
To play Smurfette is a whole new challenge for Perry – she really had to dig into her imagination to bring life to a simple sketch. The star says she really helped to develop the character of the only female Smurf.
Perry said, “When I’m doing the voice for Smurfette it’s really interesting because I get to be a part of creating her character and adding little nuances to her who I guess she is on the big screen. The voice is basically my voice but throw some rocks in it. Just a little bit rockier.”
What will audiences think of Katy Perry’s interpretation of Smurfette? Does she have the “right” voice for the character? That is sure to be a matter of opinion. It must be a ton of fun to be only the voice and personality of a character.
Katy Perry said ‘The Smurfs’ is a movie everyone is bound to love. “It’s a positive story and it has a sweet side and there’s a great message,” she says. “It’s one of those you can’t go wrong type of films. I think it’s very family oriented and that’s why I wanted to be a part of it.”
Everyone is in high anticipation of the Smurfs 3D movie. The entire village of Juzcar in southern Spain has even been painted blue – all of it – as promotion for the film. The town is excited to hold the world premiere of ‘The Smurfs’ 3D movie – and might even decide to stay painted blue forever.
