CRUSHED Katy Perry is being whisked away to Mexico by Rihanna following her split from Russell Brand.
Heartbroken Katy has been confiding in pal Rihanna, 23, since Russell filed for divorce after just 14 months of marriage.
The two singers have cleared their schedules to go away this month.
A source said:“Rihanna has been there for Katy, texting her from Miami where she’s on holiday. Now they are planning a girlie getaway so Katy can clear her head.”
Russell, 36, is said to have split from Katy over claims she did not want to have children. The source continued:“Katy is absolutely devastated, but the rows over starting a family had just come to a head. Yes she had agreed to take a year out to focus on children, but she realised the timing was all wrong.
“She is too young and does not want to put her music on the back burner while she is on top of her game.”
Katy, 27, revealed she was absolutely shattered after a gruelling world tour.
It left her with very little time to see her husband and the pair were last pictured together at a charity benefit in LA on December 3.They spent Christmas 7,000 miles apart – Katy in Hawaii, Russell in Cornwall – before he instructed lawyers to start divorce proceedings on Friday.
Russell could be in line to make up to £20million from the break-up, according to reports. Neither signed a pre-nup when they married in October so, under Californian law, Russell could pick up half of her fortune.
Katy is said to be worth at least £28million and industry insiders reckon that has since rocketed to at least £45million due to her non-stop touring and commercial ventures.
Russell has a net worth of about £11million from his stand-up tours and a string of hit movies.
The estranged couple are set to meet face to face to thrash out details.
A more enjoyable date for Katy will be next month’s Grammy Awards where she is up for Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year for her chart-topper Firework.
Katy said: “I’m very excited as they’re nominating Firework, which is important to me. I feel I’m doing something right.”
