Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” Ends Eminem And Rihanna Billboard Hot 100 Reign

Eminem relinquished his Billboard 200 albums chart crown when to Katy Perry last week when she released her sophomore album, Teenage Dream, and now he’ll have to do the same on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Katy’s new single, “Teenage Dream,” will knock Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie” featuringRihanna from No. 1 after a seven-week reign when the chart is updated tomorrow, Billboard.com reports.

“Teenage Dream” is Katy’s second No. 1 single from her sophomore album. She spent six weeks at No. 1 with “California Gurls” featuring Snoop Dogg before Eminem and Rihanna bumped her from the top spot.

Katy Perry’s latex outfit a scream in Berlin

The 25-year-old singer stepped out in a crowd-pleasing, figure-hugging latex number covered in ice-cream cones as she performed at the Postbahnhof Arena in Berlin.

Perry, who is well-known for her cartoon character style, accessorised the sexy look with striped peep-toe Chanel wedge boots and a knuckle duster adorned with Gummi Bears.

It is not the first time the I Kissed A Girl singer has appeared in latex, showing off her gym-honed figure.

In July she posed in a PVC two-piece and a bright blue wig to promote her Teenage Dream album and in June she performed in New York wearing a green latex halter-neck dress covered in palm trees.During the World Cup she appeared on James Cordon’s chat show in a PVC dress decorated with both the British and American flags to celebrate the England vs USA match. It also represented her desire to become a dual citizen when she marries Russell Brand next month.

Talking to Alan Carr on his Chatty Man show on Sunday night, she said: “One of the first things I’ll do is apply for dual citizenship. I’m not too sure if I have to take a test as I’ve not had time to look into it. But England is like my second home.”

She added: “I can just pass through Customs real quick. You’ve already kind of adopted me so maybe I don’t have to go through all the paperwork?”

Last night Perry celebrated hitting the UK number one spot with her new album, Teenage Dream, with an altogether more casual look.

She posted a photograph of herself on Twitter wearing the South Park all-in-one sleep suit she bought during a Paris shopping spree last week.

She tweeted: “celebrating all the love from the #1′s around the world in my new South Park pj’s on the bus!’

Olly Murs has shot straight to number one on the Official UK Singles Chart with his debut single Please Don’t Let Me Go.

The X Factor runner-up fought off Katy Perry’s track Teenage Dream to claim the top spot in its first week of release.

Miss Perry though did claim the album chart number one with her second album- also called Teenage Dream.

She knocked Eminem’s Recovery down to second place with Biffy Clyro, Mumford and Sons and Arcade Fire completing the Top 5.

Back on the singles countdown Taio Cruz’s Dynamite fell to three while Eminem and Rihanna’s Love The Way You Lie is still at number four.

-Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg, discussing his current status with his “California Gurls” collaborator Katy Perry. Snoop was ubiquitous this summer as the guest rapper on the track, which was the debut single on Perry’s chart-topping second album Teenage Dream. The rapper would like to get her back on his upcoming album Doggystyle 2: The Doggumentary, a throwback to his landmark 1993 debut that featured gangsta rap cornerstones like “Gin and Juice” and “Who Am I (What’s My Name)?”Though Dr. Dre produced the original Doggystyle, the album’s sequel will have at least some input from Swizz Beatz. In a recent video message dispatched via Swizz’s Twitter account, Snoop talked about working in the studio with the New York producer. “Man, this is big Snoop Dogg coming to you live from the studio somewhere,” Snoop said in the clip. “With Swizzle, and he just laced my boots up for my new record. He gave me some gangster sh–, some Crip sh–, some R&B sh–, some hip-hop sh–, some hard sh–, some mean sh–.”

No release date has been set yet for Doggystyle 2, though according to the video message there are as many as 18 tracks already in motion. Meanwhile, Perry’s album Teenage Dream is on top of the Billboard album chart, and its second single “Teenage Dream” is steadily climbing up the Hot 100.

Katy Perry conjured up the magic of cult movies “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost” as part of an hour of online dares and challenges organized by Britain’s Radio One on Thursday, September 2.

The pop star donned an unflattering painter’s one-piece and sat at a pottery wheel as DJ Scott Mills played Patrick Swayze to her Demi Moore. The odd couple recreated “Ghost” ‘s most famous scene as The Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody” was played in the background after a fan requested the skit as part of the “You Control Katy Perry” project.

Game Perry laughed, “I’m getting the hang of it. I could be a potter… We’ve made a tunnel.” Mills and Perry were then joined in their “white room” studio by ballroom dancer Brendan Cole who helped them recreate scenes from “Dirty Dancing”. Fans also requested Perry and Mills play Swingball, impersonate her British fiance Russell Brand, pop balloons, spraypaint self-portraits and perform a one-minute stand-up comedy act. Perry briefly fled when a Brand impersonator joined her and Mills.

The singer said, “I was scared. Can you imagine if your love walked in when you knew they were on the other side of the world?” The entire hour of skits and challenges was broadcast live online. On another news, Katy Perry has stunned fiance Russell Brand by inadvertently dying her hair the colors of his beloved soccer team West Ham.

She shares, “I twittered him last night (September 1) because I got my hair colored and I am such a good fiance. He saw me with this hair and he said, ‘Hah, you’ve got West Ham hair and I was like, ‘Oh, crap!’ Yes it’s true. I was born to be claret and blue… At least my hair dye is!”

According to MTV, Katy Perry has been approached to become a judge on the US version of The X Factor, the show for which Simon Cowell left American Idol. Reports say that Perry has been offered $340,000 a week to do the gig.

A source says that Simon Cowell has very specific ideas about who he wants on the panel: “At least one massive American star, someone who is known globally, plus one Brit and at least one authoritative male.”

Rumor has it that Nicole Scherzinger and Cheryl Cole are also on the short list of possible X Factor judges.

Katy Perry talks about stripping her songs bare, writing scandalous lyrics and how her new album will make people dance.

She is proud to be following in the footsteps of Nirvana and Lauryn Hill by recording her own MTV Unplugged session.

What was the appeal for you in doing MTV Unplugged?

“Well, the MTV Unplugged session was really important, it was kind of like the swansong of the whole One of the Boys record. It was the last real look I wanted to give on the record and show off some of the songs at their most simple, kind of at their most stripped down, at the core of how they were written.”

Were you nervous at taking those songs that you’ve performed in big festivals and then sitting down in front of an intimate audience?

“No, I thrive in that kind of environment probably better; not better, it’s just a different me. The first time I started singing was in church, but then when I started playing guitar I would go into the newspaper and I would find open-mic sessions and coffee shops that would let anybody sign up to play.“And I would go there and I would just pull out my guitar and play these little rough drafts of songs and get people’s feedback and really see if it was connecting, if people really related to it or if they would even listen.”

But I’ve read that the next stuff you’re going to be doing will be more pop and dance-oriented. Is that right?

“I’m hoping it’s going to be a bit more pop. Going on the road, that’s what I saw that I lacked in concert, was a little bit more movement. And that doesn’t mean that I have to sacrifice the story for it.”

I know One of the Boys had a lot of personal things that happened to you when you were growing up. Now you’re much more high-profile, much more successful, are you still going to have that personal aspect in your stories?

“Yeah, I think even more so. I guess in my personal life and in interviews, sometimes I don’t give as much detail as I used to, but I think I am saving it for the songs, and the songs I’m just gushing.

“From the few songs that I’ve written so far, they are very honest, if not more honest than the last ones. But they are a little bit more mature … I know how to handle boys now.

“Actually I don’t even mess with boys any more, I mess with men, you know. It’s different because One of The Boys was like 17 to 23 and some of those songs I wrote when I was 19 and that’s such a different place than you are when you’re 25.”

Your life must be completely different now. It’s a whirlwind.

“Yeah I’m definitely getting used to it, or trying; it’s difficult. I don’t feel completely different than when I started. I feel like I have a lot to prove still and I still have that ambition and that drive that I had when I didn’t have any money…”

With the last album, there was a lot of hype about I Kissed a Girl and Ur So Gay. Do you feel like you’re going to have to have some scandalous angle on a track on the new album?

“I think the I Kissed a Girl and Ur So Gays were never, ‘oh, let’s see how I can stir up a pot of scandalous,’ you know.

“It was actually just me telling my story, and that is how I see the world you know, and that’s the kind of funny, messed-up way I live my life, I guess.

“With a dark undertone, a sarcastic dark undertone, just everything is kind of that way for me, and so I’m sure that’ll be a thread in my next record.”

Pop sensation Katy Perry will rock Vienna next month, it has been announced.

Online music and events platform Britishrock.cc reports today (Thurs) that the 25-year-old singer from Santa Barbara, California, USA, is set to hit the stage at Vienna’s Arena concert hall on 6 October.

Perry rose to fame with “I Kissed a Girl” in 2008. The song topped the charts in several countries in the world before she managed to repeated the triumph with follow-up single “Hot n Cold”. Both songs reached number one on the Austrian Singles Chart.

Her third album “Teenage Dream” was released earlier this month.Perry’s performance of her two biggest hits sitting in a huge shell sailing down from the roof of Vienna City Hall is regarded as the highlight of the opening ceremony of last year’s Life Ball.

It was also announced recently that Danish pop siren Aura Dione will come to Austria for two concerts (Vienna, 23 November; Linz, 24 November) before US pop-punk band Good Charlotte will perform in Vienna on 21 January 2011.
