They’ve barely been married for two months. But it looks like Katy Perry and Russell Brand could be embarking upon a new chapter in their life in the not too distant future – starting a family. The broody singer admitted she is excited about having children – and wants to have lots of them. Speaking to Grazia magazine, the 26-year-old star replied emphatically when asked if she was thinking of having children. ‘Absolutely. I don’t want to miss out on any experience. I want lots of children. ‘It’s all very possible,’ she added. • Read full story…
Katy Perry has confirmed she is the dominant force in her marriage. The Firework singer married British comedian Russell Brand in India in October and told Grazia his claims that he lives under her thumb are true. Katy said: “Yes, it’s true, he does – but at least it’s a beautifully manicured thumb.” The 26-year-old I Kissed A Girl Singer also revealed she has plenty of ways to keep former sex addict Russell interested in the bedroom, and confessed she never dresses down, even at home. • Read full story… KATY PERRY is the first choice to play the new Wonder Woman, according to a readers’ poll. The pop star behind such hits as I Kissed A Girl and Hot n Cold won 20 per cent of the votes, just ahead of Megan Fox, who chalked up 19 per cent. The poll was on Total SciFi Online, whose editor Matt McAllister commented: “Perhaps pop star Perry could be the key ingredient to finally getting a new Wonder Woman movie off the ground. Though we’re left asking what next – Russell Brand as Superman? Well, his trousers are certainly tight enough…” A movie version of DC Comics icon Wonder Woman has been in development hell for years, with everyone from Jessica Biel to Beyonce linked to the superpowered Amazon princess at some point. There have also been recent talks of a new Wonder Woman TV series, but nothing has yet crystallised on that front. Writer-producer David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, The Practice, Boston Legal), who’s developing the show, told Zap2It last week: “There’s no real deal in place yet, but yeah, my intent is to take a stab at it. I’ve been working on it between scripts for Harry’s Law. It’s a very, very different genre for me, a very tricky beast. I won’t know whether I’ve cracked it or not until I’ve finished it, but it’s going.” Kelley says it’s a bit early for casting chat: “At the beginning, there was a little bit of that, but we quickly made it known that was premature. I haven’t necessarily committed to doing it yet. I’m at the point where I’m trying to figure out if I can make the franchise work for me. “If I can’t, I don’t want to delude Warner Bros or anybody else that I should be doing it. The way I’ve always worked has been to write a script and discover, in the process of the writing, if it’s a fertile and creative place where I want to live. If I feel I can make the characters my own and it’s a world rich enough for me to revisit, that’s a good sign to me that it’s a series worth doing.” Here’s the full list of Wonder Woman poll results on Total SciFi Online: Source: Coventry Telegraph The armed forces’ controversial “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy will soon be history. On Saturday (December 18), the Senate voted to repeal the 17-year-old measure that bars openly gay men and women from serving in the military. The bill passed by a 65-31 margin, according to CNN, which included eight republicans and one independent who joined the Democrat-backed initiative. President Obama will sign the bill into law next week. “Today, the Senate has taken an historic step toward ending a policy that undermines our national security while violating the very ideals that our brave men and women in uniform risk their lives to defend. By ending ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ no longer will our nation be denied the service of thousands of patriotic Americans forced to leave the military, despite years of exemplary performance, because they happen to be gay. And no longer will many thousands more be asked to live a lie in order to serve the country they love,” the president said in a statement. Katy Perry showed her support for the repeal of DADT by responding to a missive that fellow songstress Pink retweeted.

Categories Filed: Media Updates, Recent Headlines, ‘Teenage Dream’ Despite debuting at #1 on the Billboard albums chart and spawning three massive hit singles, some in the industry were surprised earlier this month when Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream grabbed a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. Tricky Stewart was not one of them. “You know, I did four songs on that record, so I’m really proud of it,” he told MTV News. “And not just because it’s [nominated in] the Album of the Year category, but because Dr. Luke did an amazing job on the singles and Stargate did an amazing job on the singles … but all of us together, we put that album together, and I think it’s pretty flawless.” • Read full story… The spinning wheel atop the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart came to a halt for the first time in almost two months on Thursday, as Katy Perry’s “Firework” logged a second consecutive week at No. 1. The last song to spend successive frames at the top of the Hot 100 was “Like a G6,” by Far*East Movement in late-October. Since then, five tunes have enjoyed weeklong stints at No. 1 with “Like a G6″ making a return engagement for a third round. One of those former No. 1s, “What’s My Name?” by Rihanna featuring Drake, was also angling for a second shot at glory by rising one place to No. 2 on the heels of strong radio airplay. The R&B starlet held at No. 6 with “Only Girl (In the World).” • Read full story… MTV has announced Katy Perry as their number two Woman of the Year. One can only imagine the number one lady is someone who made her little monsters go gaga, but Lady Gaga nabbed that honor last year, so we’ll have to wait until December 17 to find out for sure. Katy Perry, or should we say Mrs. Brand, has had quite a year. It was such a big one that the new Mrs. Russell Brand has been tapped as MTV’s number two Woman of the Year. A glimpse at some of Katy Perry’s big 2010 headlines gives a hint as to how she earned the honor, and we’re not just talking about the barrage of wedding news that landed between her January 5 engagement to Russell Brand and the October Katy Perry-Russell Brand wedding! • Read full story… With the end of the year approaching Katy Perry is in a tight race with Train for the most downloaded single of the year. Katy’s “California Gurls” has sold 4,152,000 digital copies, putting it just 2,000 downloads behind Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister,” which has sold 4,154,000. While Katy Perry’s summer hit won the top spot in early November, Train’s smash single had a late resurgence after it was featured on Glee on November 30. No matter how the race turns out, Train will have sold more copies overall. “Hey, Soul Sister,” released digitally in August, 2009, sold 687,000 copies that year. Regardless of the battle, Katy Perry has had a big year with her album Teenage Dream, which has produced three hit singles, and propelled her to the 11th-best selling artist of 2010 according to billboard.com’s year-end charts. Source: Zimbio Looking to unwind a bit, Katy Perry hit up the Roxy Theater in Los Angeles to see Dita Von Teese’s “Strip Strip Hooray” burlesque show last night (December 15). But unfortunately it looked like the “California Gurls” songstress indulged a bit too much in the bartender’s creations. Ms. Perry stumbled out to the sidewalk along with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, and tried her best not to allow the shutterbugs to see her inebriated state. And it was a celebrity-rich environment at the Roxy, as hotties like Holly Madison and Kelis both turned out for the gig. Source: Celebrity Gossip Earlier today, esteemed MTV News senior writer James Montgomery laid out his picks for the 20 best albums of the year. It’s a solid list, full of envelope-pushing rock, head-spinning hip-hop, staggering melody and weird sonic experiments (and that’s just the number one choice, Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy). But after West (who would be my pick for the best album of the year as well), our tastes seem to deviate wildly. In fact, after West, my top 10 is completely different than his. So here’s my counterpoint to Montgomery’s list. There are 10 albums here, but you should really think of the top album as “1A,” because let’s face it: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is absolutely the best album of the year, even if you think Kanye West sucks (in fact, that’s true especially if you think Kanye West sucks).
Source: MTV A Magnolia High School broadcast journalism project that incorporated a popular Katy Perry song and developed into a YouTube sensation has attracted one special supporter — Katy Perry herself! More than 600 students and faculty members took part in the ‘MHS Lip Dub,’ a continuous one-shot music video featuring a lip-synch performance to the song “Firework” by Katy Perry. The video was uploaded Dec. 9 to YouTube and submitted through the WatchDogNews channel, which features new and old videos from the broadcast journalism classes at Magnolia High School. • Read full story… The list, which is voted for by our writers, includes songs that were released as singles, as well as individual downloads and tracks. It includes songs by Kanye West, Everything Everything, Warpaint, Duck Sauce, The National, Kelis and Katy Perry. “As our Best Songs Of 2010 list shows, this year has seen musicians across the board deliver a some incredible tracks that will last long after the year ends,” Gigwise editor Jason Gregory said. “And as for our number one – well that was an instant classic.” The countdown also features the tracks by LCD Soundsystem, Lil’ Wayne, Beady Eye and Vampire Weekend.
